Steady Cam software to steady my Android camera videos shot while walking.

VirtualDub
with two plugins:
DeShaker - steady cam
ffinput - reads multiple input formats

These plugins install just by copying files to the plugins directory, then restart VirtualDub.

XVid - compression

After you install XVid, it will be recognized by VirtualDub.

Steps:

  1. Open Virtual Dub
  2. Open your video file within VirtualDub
  3. Mark beginning and ending selection points on the timeline
  4. Click Video - Compression
  5. Choose XVid MPEG-4 Codec
  6. Click Configure to bring up configuration options
  7. Set bitrate to 300 kbps, Close
  8. Click Video - Filters - Add - Deshaker
  9. Double-click on Deshaker to bring up the config screen
  10. Choose Pass 1, Close
  11. Click File - Run Video Analysis Pass
  12. wait for it to complete
  13. Click File - Save as AVI, enter desired filename
  14. wait for it to complete
